After an unremarkable music career, I discovered a passion for helping others. For several years I worked in mental health treatment centers while pursuing a degree in Psychology, with an emphasis on Cognitive Neuroscience. Eventually, I discovered Human Factors and User Experience Research. I found that I could make people’s lives better by advocating for them with well-crafted research. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology program at the University of Central Florida. I have two main lines of academic research. The first looks at how we use spatial and functional relationships between objects to visually search our environment. The second examines the use of objective and passively collected behavioral data (eye and mouse movements) for usability benchmarking. When I am not working, you can usually find me at home with my wife and two daughters. I am an audiobook junkie and obsessive guitar player. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries.
